Stonewall Alliance of Chico
A Resource for the LGBTQIA2S+ Community
Stonewall is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating the health, empowerment, and joy of the North State LGBTQ+ community at every intersection of their identities. We provide advocacy, education, direct services, and resources to LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies throughout the Northern Sacramento Valley.
It's the 2025 Chico Pride Schedule! A huge thank-you to our community for your inspiration of our theme: Rise Together.
This year, we've got three official Stonewall Chico events -
The Teen Dance, for ages 13-17, May 31st, 5-9pm at the Teen Center, 628 Wall Street, Downtown Chico.
Drag Storytime, for kids and families, June 1st, 1:00-3:00pm at the Chico Branch Library
The Downtown Festival, for everyone, June 7, 11:00am-4:00pm at Chico City Plaza.
We're also partnering with a number of community partners who are presenting their own Chico Pride events.
Center News & Updates
Sunday, June 29th at 1pm it's "Ask A Lawyer" about your rights to access gender-affirming care. This session is open to anyone looking to find Trans- and Nonbinary - competent healthcare for themselves, or to advocate for others who need it. No questions are off limits and your participation is completely confidential. To get your questions answered confidentially, text the Questions Line at 802-884-3336. The community advocate attorney who will be at the session will answer it without giving any identifying information.
If you can't make it to the session but still want to get answers to a question, you can still text in - just mention that you can't be there in your text, and your message will be responded to after the session is finished. For better access and further questions, you can also contact the attorney directly: Liza Thantranon is a professional advocate for people needing these services and welcomes questions from people on this topic, absolutely free of charge. Email her at lthantranon@lsnc.net.
June 28th, marks the anniversary of the Riots at the Stonewall Inn which shaped the modern LGBTQ+ Rights movement as we know it. Even as Pride events across the country bring people together in celebration, we’re witnessing a direct attack on the autonomy and validity of LGBTQ+ people from the highest levels of government. Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court vs Skrmetti decision affirmed the state of Tennessee’s ban on certain medical treatments for trans minors - which sets a precedent throughout that State and across the Nation that looks grim for Trans healthcare.
Many healthcare organizations which derive funding from Federal sources - including many right here in Chico - are being affected by this trend, and Trans-competent clinics, programs, and medical providers are being forced to stop, change, or alter their service.
But know this: those doctors, healthcare staff and administrators have not stopped caring about Trans people. Stonewall Chico is in regular conversation with providers in this situation (and people in many other fields) who are fighting, working, resisting - looking tirelessly for ways to keep getting necessary care to our Trans community. We will continue to stay involved in national, state, and local meetings and groups to bring our community the most accurate information, referrals, and resources - and those resources do exist.
The most important message that we and those fighting for Trans care can impart to our community right now is: don’t give up. Do not obey in advance. You deserve safety, dignity and competent care, and there are a lot of people fighting for your right to it.
You are not alone, and together we will keep pushing, organizing, and showing up for one another as generations before us have done. This is the very legacy of the Stonewall Uprising: one of resistance and persistence in the face of state-sanctioned injustice. We’ve overcome before and we will overcome again.
