World AIDS Day is an annual memorial event to honor and remember those affected by HIV and AIDS.
World AIDS Day takes place on December 1st every year.
This event is a space to discuss the history, effect, and meaning of the virus and the health crisis surrounding it. We honor those lost, learn about current issues and situations related to AIDS and HIV, and discuss the future of our community’s relationship to the disease.
The service includes a candlelight vigil with an opportunity to speak the names of anyone lost to AIDS; a short film; and information/ speakers on local resources. Refreshments are provided.
Stonewall Alliance of Chico usually partners with Caring Choices, our partners in our free and confidential HIV testing program, for this event- as well as our host, who are generally one of the open and affirming churches in our area.
