Despite a rich tradition of queer poets and writers, a very small percentage of students report being directly taught positive representations of the LGBTQ+ community through their writing. It is our hope that by sharing some of our favorite LGBTQ+ poets over the course of April, we can provide you with a renewed perspective on how change takes shape, while encouraging you to think critically about the art you consume.

In light of the pandemic, every event looks a bit different these days. Including the 40th Annual celebration honoring the revolutionary work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—”Restoration, Reconciliation and Resilience.” This free event brought to our community by MLK Unity Group, was streamed on BCAC TV, Channel 11, and is now archived on their Youtube Channel; Youtube.com/BCACTV.
